Subject: Forest Hill Road - Mediation 20080708

All,
Looks like another "delay-waste-of-time" to me, but FYI, here, below is another letter from the Bibb County Reps.

I just spoke to Judge Beasley who can not type well right now as she just had surgery today on her elbow.  She fell a few days ago and today she had surgeons to screw 2 loose pieces of bone back onto her elbow.  (ouch.!.)

I told the Judge to take it easy for a few days and we would let her know when to expect us to reply.

PS - in related affairs:

1 - I spoke to an attorney friend today who suggested we might make an official complaint to the Bibb Sheriffs office about the conflict-of-interest votes that Elmo did to further the (his) FHR project(s).

2- I heard from a friend (thru his dad who is one of our FHR activists) that he has retired for being an IRS agent (investigator who carried a gun)... the dad suggested he might know who to contact re questionable money deals with Elmo and GaDOT.

3. CAC meets tomorrow at P+Z @ 5pm.topics: Bylaws [bring Columbus, Ga. CAC info], South-Downtown Connector [EDAW document]

4. Susan spoke to Julie Groce who heard something about Moreland-Altobelli being fired from Fort Valley project.  We do not know if that is accurate or recent history.

5.  Susan heard that the votes on the Bibb Comm are almost now in our favor if FHR comes up again.

7-08-2008 Document from Moreland Altobelli Mediation_Bibb_County_July_7.doc

TO: Judge Dorothy Beasley

FROM: Bibb County Representatives

SUBJECT: Response to Citizens June 26, 2008

DATE: July 7, 2008

It appears from the Citizen’s Representatives response that the only thing we have agreement on is the number of lanes (two) for the section north of Wimbish Road. In our response dated March 25, 2008, County Representatives proposed a road width of 32 feet for this section. It was not accepted in the Citizens Representatives response of April 10, 2008. Now Citizens Representatives advise that a narrower profile (34 feet) and 11 foot travel lanes will earn acceptance. If 34 feet is acceptable now, why wasn’t 32 feet acceptable March 25th?

As you know, we have 11 foot wide lanes on the section south of Wimbish Road. These lanes are separated by a landscaped median and the traffic is running in the same direction in each lane. It is safer for traffic traveling in opposing directions to be in a 12 foot wide lane than in an 11 foot wide lane. Thus, we recommend that the lanes be 12 foot wide in the two lane section north of Wimbish Road.

We also recommend that the paved shoulder on the two lane section be seven foot wide instead of six foot wide as proposed by Rick Chellman. This additional one foot will make it safer for vehicles to go around vehicles stopped waiting to make a left turn. The section proposed by the County Representatives takes only two more feet from each side of the roadway.

We think this 38 foot wide section will provide the community a much safer design. We hope that the Community Representatives will accept this proposal as recommended.

If the Community wants a sidewalk only on one side, we would recommend it also. We need to know on which side of Forest Hill Road it needs to be on.

Your patience and help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
